Chicken-Apple Bacon Burger

2 slices turkey bacon, cooked, chopped
1/4 cup yellow onion, chopped
1 Lb. ground chicken
2 tsp. fresh sage leaves, chopped
1/2 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 granny smith apple, cored, peeled, sliced into 1/4" slices
4 slices cheddar cheese
4 kaiser rolls (whole wheat if possible)
Mayo
Lettuce leaves (optional)

Cook bacon until crisp, then crumble and set aside. Add onions to pan and saute' until softened.

Mix chicken, bacon, onion, sage, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Form into 4 patties that are 4" wide by 1/2" thick. Grill for 5 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Top with cheese 2 min. before patties are done.

Grill apple slices for 1 min. per side to slightly soften. Grill rolls cut side down for 1 min or until slightly toasted.

*Don't want to grill? I have cooked the patties, apples, and rolls on my griddle. Just need to cook longer times.

Serve 1 patty on each bun and top with apple slices, lettuce and mayo.

Makes 4 sandwiches
