Honestly, what is better than a hot bowl of soup and a warm biscuit, on a cold, rainy day?! That is why cheered when I heard I would be trying Tastefully Simple's Creamy Wild Rice Soup and Perfect Parmesan Biscuits! Most of you know that I run a cooking website. I am always searching for ways to make dinner easier, healthier, or just tastier. I have been cooking since I was a young girl. I am in the kitchen 7 days a week (no joke), in an effort to try new recipes out on my family. Simply put, I love to cook! But even this mom needs a break every now and then! I normally shy away from pre-packaged or boxed meals, as most tend to lack in flavor.
Tonight's dinner was an exception! Tastefully Simple's motto rang true, "The food you love, the time you deserve." Although I was still having to be in the kitchen, it was all of five minutes! It was as easy as adding a soup mix to a pot of hot water and adding two things to the biscuit mix--water and cheese. Let it do its thing, and voilà' ...dinner was served! No fuss! It was one of the quickest meals I have been able to put together in a long time, allowing me a chance to do something else with my extra time. What was so cool is that each box also gave me variations to the mix, so next time I make it, I can change it up if I want to. So, here is the most important part of the whole meal--How did it taste?! Had I not known it was from a box mix, I would of sworn it was made from scratch! I would of failed a side-by-side taste test for sure! The soup was creamy, and packed full of flavor. The biscuits were light, moist, and absolutely delicious! Yes, we all fought over the last biscuit, but I won, claiming I made the meal. My husband said the biscuits were similar to Red Lobster's Garlic biscuits, but actually better then them. I agreed.
Sure, you could get the same quick meal results buying a can of soup from the store. Sorry Charlie, it's going to taste like it came from a can too! Being a self-proclaimed food-guru, I can testify that there is no comparison between store-bought soups and Tastefully Simple's Soup Mixes. If you are not familiar with Tastefully Simple, I HIGHLY suggest you check out their other products. Recommendations from my "Must Have" list would be the Oh My! Chai, Warm Artichoke Spinach Dip Mix, Garlic-Garlic Seasoning, or Bountiful Beer Bread Mix. I have personally had these products over the years and really enjoyed them! I always had guests ranting and raving at my get-togethers, because it was something new and different they hadn't tasted before. They make awesome, unique gifts too!
