Cut two pieces of strut, going just beyond the length of the mounting holes on the back of your flat screen TV. Mount the strut to the wall, making sure each bolt is in the wall stud, not just drywall.
Determine mounting bolt type needed for the back of your TV. Most owner's manuals will tell you what size screw/bolt you will need to mount your TV. Typically they are metric. Purchase 2 bolts and 2 washers to mount the strut to the back of the TV.
Here's a close up of what the fastened strut will look like on the back of the TV.
Slide the two struts together, interlocking them. Be sure they are completely interlocked prior to letting go.
Wha-la! For under $20 you just made your own flat screen TV wall mount!
