Turning My Bling Into Bang

I think I am going through some sort of mid life crisis. Last week, out of no where, I threw out the bright idea that we should begin target shooting as a family, just for fun. My boys eyes lit up with excitement, as their Nerf days were about to come to an end. Meanwhile, my husband's face took on a look of both surprise and confusion, seeing that I have a general fear of guns. I was serious though, the tough girl in me wanted to come and play. Only one thing stood between me and my dream of a pink camo gun...money. In order for us to pick up a couple starter guns, I was going to need extra cash, outside of our set budget. I am not one to give up easily, when I really want something, so the wheels began to turn in my mind. A random thought came to me, while putting on my jewelry one morning. I noticed that I had jewelry that I never wear--gold rings, silver chains, and a diamond bracelet. A smile spread across my face as dollar signs flashed in my eyes. Later that day, we took my unused jewelry to a gold exchange shop, who in return bought it, netting us $240! Yup, I turned my bling-bling into cash for guns, and couldn't be happier!

Okay, so I may or may not be trying to look like Angelina Jolie in my picture above (minus the leather outfit, big lips, long luscious hair, and Brad Pitt). But, "say 'ello to my lil' friend"...my new Gamo Recon Whisper Air Rifle, plus a new Daisy BB Pistol. I know, I know, it's not the pink camo 22-rifle I was originally hoping for, but with no where to shoot but my backyard, I had to settle for less. But nonetheless, I finally have something to shoot and have fun with on a whim. So I have a little work to do on my aim, but I'm having a blast trying! My goal? To get good enough to upgrade my rifle and hunt a turkey next season. Sorry, can't quite shoot Bambi yet...I repeat, yet. I think my new found love for Bass Pro Shop has me on the track of becoming a redneck-at-heart. Just need the singing fish on the wall now ;)

  1. That's some rootin, tootin, shootin Jenn. I want to get a bow, thanks to Katniss and the little red haired girl on Brave.

  2. I LOVED this post. I come from a family of hunters and was never interested in the sport until recently. I still haven't made the leap into actually firing a weapon, but I'm getting more and more curious. Especially with the bath-salts-induced Zombie Apocalypse looming ;)
